What is a fiduciary and do you accept fiduciary responsibility?
The definition of fiduciary is a person or organization who has a legal obligation to act in your best interest. Many advisors are only held to a suitability standard meaning they only need to recommend investments that are suitable even if they are not in your best interest. At Nelson Roberts, we always act in a fiduciary capacity on all accounts, not just retirement accounts.
What is your smallest account size?
We have a stated minimum of $1,000,000 in net investable assets per client family.
What services to do you perform?
We provide wealth management which is holistic financial planning including asset allocation, income tax planning, education funding planning, reviewing risk coverages, retirement planning and estate planning. We also provide asset management by constructing portfolios of individual securities.
How often do you meet with clients to evaluate their financial plan?
We aim to meet with clients quarterly to review their financial plan but may meet more frequently as we onboard new clients or during life changing events which require more attention.
Are you a custodian?
No, Nelson Roberts does not take custody of your assets. Instead, our clients use custodians such as Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade, and US Bank to custody assets. Our priority is to keep your assets safe and minimize trading costs.
How much are your fees?
We charge 1% on the first $3,000,000, 0.75% on the next $2,000,000 and 0.50% over $5,000,000 on asset under management. We do not include any home equity or future payments of pensions or social security in assets under management.
Do you take commissions on products sold?
Nelson Roberts does not sell any products, earn any commissions, or receive referral fees.
Have you ever been sued by a client?
